Becky Shuster (she/her), principal of Home Ground Consulting, seeks to repair the world through interpersonal and systems change. She is compelled by a fierce ethic of compassion for human beings, and draws on wisdom gained in fifteen years in civil rights law enforcement, nine years managing civil rights compliance and equity initiatives in an urban school district, and eleven years consulting to workplaces, universities, and schools. Becky's groundbreaking bias prevention efforts have been recognized nationally with a Telly Award and a Communicator Award. She has received citations for excellence from the governor of Massachusetts and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Becky takes a pro-human, anti-oppression, systems-based approach to her work. She has led or managed thousands of civil rights training sessions and investigations, and led or advised on hundreds of equity audits, analyses, and initiatives. Weeks after Becky began leading the Boston Public Schools' Office of Equity in 2015, allegations of racial bias at one of the district's exam schools spurred national press. After an extensive investigation that resulted in findings affirmed by the Department of Justice, her team supported the school to strengthen bias reporting structures, facilitate annual anti-bias programming, and take other proactive steps to foster a welcoming environment for students of color and others with traditionally marginalized identities. Next, the Office of Equity scaled these strategies districtwide.

As a Jewish woman, Becky is driven by her lived experiences with sexism and antisemitism. As a white person, she roots her work in lifelong learning about racism and other forms of oppression, and deep partnerships with people of color. Home Ground Consulting tailors the right team for each project, drawing on a seasoned cadre of African-American, Afro-Caribbean, Latina/o/x, and Asian heritage associates with a wide variety of expertise.​​​
